Sumo-Robots Competition at MEDC Singapore 2007 on 8 June 2007
In preparation for MEDC Singapore 2007, I’m here in the US at MEDC 2007 collecting content and pre-meeting our Redmond speakers. One of the things I was most looking forward to is learning more about the Sumo-Robots competition straight from the Robotics team. Here’s a quick 5 min video on what Sumo-Robots are:

Thanks to the Robotics team, I’ll be bringing 10 of these bad-boys back to Singapore for our own local Sumo-Robots competition. As David said in the video, getting started with programming the logic for these robots should take about 20 mins. All the HW interfacing work has been pre-done for you and all you have to do is to work out the “attack” logic.
Here’s what you need:
- Visual Studio 2005 (Express, Standard, Pro, Team System)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/downloads/ - Microsoft Robotics Studio 1.5 (CTP May 2007, installed on-top of Visual Studio)

There’s some channel 9 videos by the robortic teams demo-ing the visual programming language debugger (VPL) for these sumo bots at http://channel9.msdn.com/Showpost.aspx?postid=303072The VPL is uber cool and makes it extremely easy to program and debug on these roborts.
